Install the free MapleTally app

MapleTally's free calculators for self-employed people in Canada (sales tax, income tax, CPP, mileage and more) can be installed on your phone, tablet or computer. It opens in its own window with its own icon, like any other app.

What you get

  • Free. No cost, no account and no sign-up.
  • No app store. It installs straight from your browser.
  • Works offline on calculators you've already opened.
  • Always current: pages load fresh from mapletally.ca whenever you're online.

Questions

Does the app work offline?

Partly. Once you've opened a calculator while online, it opens and works without a connection. Pages you haven't visited yet need a connection, and the USD to CAD calculator needs one for the latest Bank of Canada rate.

How does the app get updates?

Automatically. When you're online, pages load fresh from mapletally.ca, so you see the same figures as the website. There's nothing to update in an app store.

What happens to the numbers I type?

They stay in your browser. The calculators run on your device and don't send what you type to MapleTally or save it on a server. The app keeps copies of site pages on your device so they open offline. Like the website, it uses Google Analytics to count visits. See the privacy policy.

Does the app cost anything?

No. The app and every calculator are free, with no account or sign-up. The bookkeeping tracker is a separate Google Sheets template sold on Etsy.

How do I uninstall it?

On iPhone or iPad, touch and hold the MapleTally icon, tap Remove App, then tap Delete App. On Android, go to Settings > Apps, choose MapleTally and tap Uninstall. In Chrome on a computer, open the app, select More (⋮), then Uninstall MapleTally. In Edge, go to edge://apps, select Details on MapleTally, then Uninstall.

Is this an official CRA app?

No. MapleTally is not affiliated with or endorsed by the CRA or Revenu Québec. The calculators give estimates only and are not tax advice.
