On $100 before tax, GST is $5.00 and QST rounds to $9.98. The total is $114.98. Going backwards from $114.98 returns $100, $5.00 and $9.98. The extra fraction of a cent in 9.975% is why QST on $100 is $9.98, not $9.97.

QST is administered by Revenu Québec. GST is the federal tax. A business that must charge both generally registers for both. This calculator does not file anything and it is not part of Revenu Québec.
